Ingredients
75g Softer butter (cold)
350g Self raising flour
175ml milk
1 tsp baking powder
75g caster sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
50 currants, raisins or sultanas
1 egg to glaze
Serve with jam of your choice

Method
- Pre heat oven to 200 degrees (fan)
- Put flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl and mix
- Slice the butter into cubes /pieces, add it to the mix and rub together with your hands to make a crumb like mix and then add the sugar and mix.
- Add the milk and lemon juice and mix to form a dough
- Add sultanas and mix all of the ingredients
- Lightly flour a surface and pat out the dough to around 4cm thick – make sure the dough is smooth and level! (Turn dough over a couple of times to make smooth)
- Cut out the scones using a scone cutter
- Line a baking tray and put the scones a few cm apart
- Beat an egg and brush on the top of the scones
- Bake for around 12-15 minutes or until golden on top
- Serve with your jam of choice, butter, or clotted cream
